Then
we got a piece of 3'x3"x2" C channel steel for
our back mounting plate. On both ends of the steel we cut
the sides off for about one inch. This allows for the C
channel to fit over the frame. It was then welded into
place on the top, sides and bottom for total support. Next
the two side bolts holding the bumper on were taken off
and the bumper removed. A neat trick was used to figure
out where to drill the holes. A piece of paper was taken
and traced over where the holes on the winch are at. Put
the bumper back in place and mark were to drill by the
paper. Drill the holes on the bumper and your back
mounting plate using a small bit then increasing because
the C Channel is thick. Square nuts go into the winch then
we bolted the winch to the bumper, reinstalled the bumper
and then bolted in the bolts on the back plate. There you
have it, the winch is mounted using a piece of C Channel
and the stock bumper. Of course put your tow hooks back on
after everything else is finished.
Wiring is the last step, we ran the wires through the
grill, zip tied them to the fender and grill. Then hooked
the wires to the correct battery terminal. That simple!
Your winch is ready to tackle some of the most extreme
situations.
We
suggest getting the roller fairlead. It helps
dramatically. We have one coming with our custom bumper so
we decided to wait until then.
